Fun former factory setting; some of the huge equipment was too big to move, so it remains as a conversation piece. The helpings are large. Standard American fare, hamburgers & fries, etc, and a good value for your money.

Built by a lumber baron and founder of the Oregonian newspaper, the Pittock Mansion was among the first Portland residences to have electricity. Beautiful park setting, about two miles from my home, also accessible on a hiking trail.

The world's best road builders were brought in from Germany to create a path of wonder through this amazing section of the Gorge so that the richest men of their day would have someplace nice to drive their newly acquired automobiles. Lumber barons (the tech billionaires of their day) donated some of the most beautiful properties to create a road of such lush wonder that numerous automobile commercials are shot here every year. In one section, you can stop every mile or two, hike in a few hundred feet and see a stunningly waterfall, rinse & repeat.

Parks & Nature
Several of Portland's most beautiful parks are within a short walk from the house, especially the Arboretum, which is within a half mile. Washington Park, the Oregon Zoo, the World Forestry Center, the Rose Garden and the Pittock Mansion are all within 2 miles of the house.
Full of hiking trails and beautiful nature scenes, this iconic Portland park is one of the crown jewels of the Pacific Northwest.

Portland's Japanese Garden is renowned as one of the most beautiful and authentic outside of Japan. It is a truly magical place, although, unlike almost every other park in the city, there is an entry fee of $14.95. This is the more expensive than the only other paid park (that I know of) in Portland, the Chinese Garden ($10) downtown, but the Japanese Garden is many times larger.

In 1979, the Oregon Zoo became the first in America to host a summer concert series. This year, Oregon’s “wildest” outdoor concert series brings you world-class artists for a night of music and nature from June to September. It wouldn’t be summer in Oregon without an evening of great music at the zoo!
