This Peruvian fusion bar is new to the neighbourhood and is quite possibly the hippest thing we have. Coming from Queen West for ten years, when we moved to this hood this spot was definitely #1 in our books as the most ‘queen west’ vibe. Enjoy their insanely delicious Peruvian food or roll up to the bar and sip your worries away with the famous pisco sour from Will the bartender.

This family owned Southern Italian restaurant is our neighbourhoods best kept secret. The ambience is so funky, but family friendly. In fact, the most eclectic arrangement of people gather here and have been forever. Definitely a must-see in the hood.

Despite perhaps being past its prime, this delightful cafe offers tapas at a great price in a quirky and unique atmosphere. The staff has been working there for 15+ years and will give you the downlow on anything you want to know about the neighbourhood.

If you dig live music and ultimate chill vibes (think older folks sipping a carafe of table wine for hours and hours while jamming out to west-coast bluesy sounds), this is your spot. Feels like a small town pub in a ski town to me.

Do you love burgers? Do you love coca cola in the old timey bottles? Do you love mismatched furnishings and fried chicken, brisket, smoked meats, or chicken and waffles together, or french fries…really good french fries. Enough said. Just go. Go right now. You won’t regret it.

Owned by a family friend, Heather, we fully declare our bias of this spot and think you should go! It is known for its biscuit and may have a 1 hour long brunch line ups on the weekend, but it is well worth it.

Parks & Nature

Practically across the street sits one of our cities most wonderful cultural hubs. Originally a streetcar barn, the Wychwood Barns has been transformed into a artist residence, farmers market on Saturday mornings (with live music, 9-12:30, go go go), event space, childcare space, theatre and so much more. We literally bought our house here because this was across the street. There is a great play area for dogs and a splash park for kids, a tibetan garden and more. Have fun!

Walk north on Wychwood until you cannot walk North anymore and suddenly you are surrounded by forest in all four directions. Welcome to ravine city. Named for the great cedar trees and the large ravine.
