Outdoor activities
We love having Eldora Ski Resort only a few miles from town! Eldora is a local favorite, and also on the Ikon pass. If you want to ski or snowboard on a weekend, make sure to get there early, or arrive at mid-day to avoid the traffic. Eldora also has a Nordic center for cross country skiing, and sells uphill passes if you are interested in ski-touring the resort. You can also access other great backcountry terrain close by.

Mud Lake is a beautiful hiking spot just north of town centered around a small mountain lake. There are spots to enjoy a picnic and watch the wildlife at the edge of the lake, an easy and gently graded loop trail around the lake if you only have time for a short hike, or you can spend a little longer and wander a few more miles along the well kept trails. Mid Lake is a great spot for hiking or trail running for anyone in the family.

I am obsessed with Knotted Root! Knotted Root is a local brewery that started in 2019. They focus on IPAs and fruity "Goo" and "Paste" Berliner Wiess beers, and have won national awards! On weekends you can catch a food truck or live music along with your delicious beer. Be sure to take a 4 pack home, as their beers are on constant rotation and go fast! Be sure to stop by on Thursday evenings for their incredibly fun Bingo from 6-8pm!

You need a car for errands, but we have a bus to Boulder
You need a car to live in Nederland, as we don't have trash or mail pick-up at the homes in town, and the bus can't get you to hiking or biking trails, but the NB bus route can be a great option to enjoy the scenery while commuting to Boulder year round or Eldora ski resort in the winter. You can buy an all-day bus ticket on the RTD app. The bus runs about once an hour for most of the day.
