The beautiful Goodrich Memorial Library has been around since 1899; in 2003, the library has since been restored to its original beauty and elegance, so even if only for the building, it is worth checking it out!

Lake Memphremagog (I dare you to not think of Aragog, Harry-Potter fans!) is one of the two large lakes nearby; the other being Champlain. It has 21 islands in it!! the views from the Newport boardwalk are beautiful and the activities in the summertime are so much fun!

Until the pandemic Vermont Salt Cave Spa & Halotherapy Center had the distinction of being one of the top five day spas in Vermont for 3 years in a row which is quite an accomplishment given we are in a small town of 1000 persons. They offer salt therapy treatments along with a wide range of different types of massage, foot reflexology and Reiki. Treatments are very affordable starting at just $25 per person.

Must check out the covered bridges!
The town of Montgomery has 7 covered bridges (of the 100 in Vermont) and they are such a great little touch of the past. Kids and adults alike seem to love them both for the nostalgia of the olden days, and take great insta-favorite photos!

Winter tires are life-savers!
Through the winter months, having winter/snow tires (studded are better) will make a big difference whether in a 4-wheel drive vehicle or not. Roads are plowed regularly in the community and the town, but there can still be a lot of snow or slush or a mix of it all.
If you cannot get the tires, you can also bring chains to have your peace of mind.
