Jimmy's is a great spot for date night. Great drinks and food. Very close to Dana Point Harbor so you can walk the harbor before/after dinner at Jimmy's.

Penguin Cafe is a quiet, local spot in Laguna Beach that you may not notice or even hear about while in town. It's a great breakfast spot with an throwback feel to old breakfast diners. 1 block off the ocean in Laguna Beach.

Should you want to venture outside of the Orange County bubble, our very favorite spot is Rasselbock in Long Beach. It is a german tavern that serves up the best sausages, soft pretzels, german sized beers and the best vibes a tavern could offer. 10/10 love this place!

Sightseeing
The harbor is a really cool place to see some cool sail boats. If you're around during Christmas time, all of the boats are lit up with holiday lights. Highly recommend seeing the harbor from above by going to Harbor Point Park and walking the local trail (very easy, short trail).

Turtle Rock in Irvine is one of our favorite mini hikes. There is a park in Irvine called Chaparral Park located next to Bonita Canyon Elementary School. If you park in the Elementary School parking lot and hike to the top of the hill named "Turtle Rock Viewpoint" you will get some amazing views of multiple cities in Orange County. Great spot for sunset. Usually not too many people there. about 75% paved by sidewalk, but once the sidewalk ends you can continue up the hill and that is where the best views are.

Turtle Rock in Irvine is one of our favorite mini hikes. There is a park in Irvine called Chaparral Park located next to Bonita Canyon Elementary School. If you park in the Elementary School parking lot and hike to the top of the hill named "Turtle Rock Viewpoint" you will get some amazing views of multiple cities in Orange County. Great spot for sunset. Usually not too many people there. about 75% paved by sidewalk, but once the sidewalk ends you can continue up the hill and that is where the best views are.

Top of the World in Laguna is a really cool spot. There is a small park with a basketball court, soccer field, and hiking trails if you want to go for a hike. You will have awesome views of the ocean and also inland areas like Irvine from Top of the World.

Salt Creek is a California State Beach and is known for excellent surfing. There is a large, grassy hill which goes down to the beach. The grassy hill is great for picnics and/or watching the sunset with friends / family. The Laguna Beach Trolly does make stops at Salt Creek during the summer time and there are also occasionally concerts at Salt Creek Beach.

Ritz Cove DrSalt Creek is a California State Beach and is known for excellent surfing. There is a large, grassy hill which goes down to the beach. The grassy hill is great for picnics and/or watching the sunset with friends / family. The Laguna Beach Trolly does make stops at Salt Creek during the summer time and there are also occasionally concerts at Salt Creek Beach.
Doheny is a great spot to take younger kids and family. It is also a great spot to learn how to surf, as the waves are generally smaller and more forgiving at Doheny compared to other spots locally.
