Tranquility of hundred-year-old cedars, magical panorama of Lake Balaton, wines, syrups. The new restaurant of the Arboretum is located in the family’s more than 160-year-old former residence. In the renovated visitor center there is a rustic restaurant offering fresh bistro specials and – on the weekends – seasonal offers and Badacsony delicacies.

Varied forests, plants, look-out towers and rest places (Nagymező “Big Meadow” with playground and barbecue site are very popular) make this region attractive for day-trippers. Nagymező (Great Field) – Festetics look-out tower – Forest sports field The lowest part of the area (Nagymező) is lying 180 m above sea level, and the highest point (Festetics look-out tower) is situated at an altitude of 235 m on the south-western part of the Keszthely Hills, 2.5 km from Lake Balaton. Nagymező is one of the most popular beauty spots not only in Gyenesdiás but also in the Keszthely Hills where picnic facilities, tables, benches, a football field and a shelter against rain await tourists and nature lovers. From the western part of Nagymező you can get to the highest peak of Mt. Kerek on tourist paths where you can find a three-storey look-out tower. From the Festetics look-out tower there is a wonderful view of the Keszthely bay and the rolling hill ridges parted by valleys of various sizes. The forest sports field can also be found in Nagymező. It is the scene of sport events and numerous schools and sports clubs put their pupils and trainees to the challenge here. The 1300 m long sports field which consists of 16 stations awaits both ”the young and the elderly”. Vadlánlik cave Above the northern end of the vineyards there is a small cave in one of the rocks of the Ló (Horse) Hills which has been called Vadlánlik by people from the neighbourhood for centuries. This is a stone niche created by erosion caused by wind and enlarged by people. At the turn of the 19th century local people used it as a secret schnapps distillery. The hill is covered with a more than 70-year-old wood of Australian pines. Mt. Kerek (Round), Kűmell (Ördög-szikla – Devil’s Rock) Kűmell is the name of the peak of the nearly 30 m-high double dolomite rock in the western part of the hills, rising steep above the village at Lőtéri Street. Its ridge and the majority of the hill are covered with a 50-year-old wood of Australian pines. The cliffs can be accessed with great difficulty, which can be the reason why such an unchanged and intact plant vegetation could evolve on them. Of the many protected plants we have to point out the bee orchid and the sand iris with 30-40 flowering pieces each year. Dolomite nature trail – light cross – Mary statue The Keszthely hills are made of dolomite rocks. With help of the new signs visitors can learn about the diverse vegetation of the Keszthely hills. Housed in several early-19th-century buildings of what was the Georgikon’s experimental farm, the Georgikon Farm Museum is the perfect museum for lovers of early industrial farming tools and farming techniques, with exhibits on the history of viniculture in the Balaton region and traditional farm trades such as those performed by wagon builders, wheelwrights and coopers. Highlights include 19th-century blacksmith tools and an enormous antique steam plough.

This former military attic actually houses two separate museums. If you only have time for one, don’t miss the grin-inducing Model Railway Museum on the top floor, which exhibits one of the world’s largest mountain railway layouts. Trains whiz round a 40m-long railway network straight out of a picture book: one section contains the historic Vienna to Trieste train line and an awe-inducing section of Austrian mountains complete with mountain tunnels; another goes through Nuremburg and a snow-covered rendition of the Black Forest; and further along you watch train cars make stops at Lake Balaton towns like Keszthely and Badacsony, includ- ing amazingly detailed versions of their train stations. It’s guaranteed to wow kids and adults alike. On the two lower floors is the Trophy Museum – although we’re not sure we enjoy looking at dead animals, it’s impossible not to admit that this collection of hunting trophies from the 1920s and '30s contains spectacular stuffed leopards, cheetahs, lions, a polar bear and even a Siberian tiger, among other animals.

„Preservation of tradition yet in a modern way.” A dear little family business in Keszthely, on the city beach, right on the waterfront with a comfy stylish terrace, not only in the beach season! From spring till autumn we are waiting for you, so Dear Guests pull up the anchor and head towards Vitorlás! Mattress Buffet: Street Food dishes made from quality and local ingredients. We protect nature, which is why we only use degradable tools and are made of natural materials.

Pajti is located in the city of Keszthely. Pajti is a little different from his peers. The coffee is divine, it is dark and light, and the milk is domestic. And there is something else... We have Pad Thai! Yet, we are not a bistro. Not a bistro, but there is a menu. There is a menu, but there is no schnitzel. There is no schnitzel, but sometimes there is a Neapolitan-style pizza. IMPORTANT: Do not order food, only drinks. The restaurant with no limits. Our terrace and tapas bar have been brought to life by the gastronomic experiences of the last 20 years in the Balkans and the Mediterranean. At 200 meters high on St. George’s Hill, the sunset is unforgettable, so as the breathtaking panorama overlooking Lake Balaton. A lavender garden surrounds us through which you can glimpse the Dragon of St. George’s Hill.
