Sightseeing
You can visit the house, gardens, garden centre, arboretum, cafe, farm shop and do plenty of walks around castle Howard. They do some lovely seasonal events, the Christmas display in the house is fantastic!
The walks outside of the grounds have outstanding views, include the castle pyramids and can go via the Crown and Cushion pub, or Dogh coffee shop.

Excellent for walking and biking. Walks can range in difficulty levels to suit individual abilities. There is a tourist information and cafe at the visitors centre. You can walk along the Cleveland way to high paradise tea rooms which is a lovely farm tea rooms and often have events on.

There is a coffee shop next to the house and two pubs in the village of Newton. The Blacksmiths arms and The Dawney Arms.

Rievaulx abbey is a 25 minute drive, located near Helmsley. Has some lovely walks by the stream and through the hills, there is a tea rooms near the abbey too.

A well recommended pub! The Durham ox is a stones throw away and has a super menu including seasonal specials. The pub has a warm atmosphere, a ski chalet themed log cabin dining area and an outside courtyard.
