Part of Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. It's an easy to moderate hiking trail with several different trail options. If you can handle the elevated trails, the views of the Hill Country are exceptional. You might run into one or two other groups at most, but you likely won't. The place is serene and beautiful. Its approximately 13 minutes from Wahoo Acres.

A privately owned fresh water spring. If you need to cool off, this is the place to go! The entrance fee is minimal, but on busy days they can reach capacity by noon.... and it can be crowded. Bring a cooler and have a picnic under the huge cypress trees that surround the pool. Swim under a waterfall or enjoy the man made pool above the waterfall perfect for little ones. Don't miss the private garden - exploring it is included in your entrance fee. Its a great day trip we try to do several times a year! Only 20 minutes from Wahoo Acres.

Want to go to the beach? You can do that in the Hill Country. This is the most private area of Lake Travis. Serene, sandy shorelines to go fishing, swimming, or relaxing. We have kayaks you can rent that we will happily deliver and pickup to your beach oasis. One of our favorite spots. Only 15 minutes from you Cabin door to sand covered toes.

Texas is hot, there's no way around it.... unless you go deep under ground. The group guided tours are reasonably priced. The view, ambience, and history is amazing. If you've never been in a cave system, this is a must! And the cool air is something magical.

This place is just fantastic. Depending on the time of year you can pick strawberries, cut your own flowers, or grab the most amazing pumpkins. A fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Food scene

A Mom and Pops restaurant that is a staple in Marble Falls. This down home cooking is exactly the Southern cuisine you expect. A plus: all of the staff are full time and receive amazing employee benefits - there are servers that have been there for decades! So these folks know what they're doing. You MUST try a slice of pie. The wait can be long, but if you're craving anything that involves gravy and fried food, its worth it.

One of our favorite Mexican food restaurants in town. The chips and salsa pass the test, as well as the margaritas. Plus its located off Historical Main street. Grab a bite and then explore the shops while you walk off your taco coma.

Great place to go with kids or a big group. The large tables are meant for groups and fun! Put in your order, grab a fleet of beers, and pick out a board game. You can spend hours playing games, drinking and snacking. Kid friendly environment. The food is a little pricey but excellent.

City/town information

Marble Falls has the charm of a small country town, but the perks of being in a larger city (i.e. grocery stores, shops, hospital, etc.). There is usually some type of festival or fair happening. Visit the lakeside public park downtown or shop main street. Plenty of options for eating, shopping, or grabbing things you may have forgotten. Plus, Highway 281 is a major thoroughfare that is a relaxing drive to Austin, Fredericksburg, or Georgetown.

About one hour to downtown Austin from Wahoo. If you’re traveling there for a citywide event like ACL, you don’t want to drive in downtown traffic. Finding a parking space could very well be impossible. Instead, park at the Leander MetroRail station [only about 40 minute drive] and take the train downtown. From there, you can grab a bus, pedicab, ride share, or a host of other ways to get around. It’s Austin y’all! There is so much to do and see 🌟 Why do we love being this distance from Austin? All the glory of an amazing city, but we can still unwind in the country 😉

Wine tastings anyone? Welcome to the hill country vineyards of central Texas! Don’t like wine? No problem - there are distilleries and breweries as well. Don’t drink? Well Fredericksburg is a historical German town with charming shops, eats, festivals, and outdoor adventures. We go there on day trips often - only one hour from Wahoo Acres.
