Perth's home of the contemporary arts - located in a heritage building that was once an old boys school, the central vaulted hall often hosts really interesting installations, sculptures and video works. Theres a performance space in the building as well.

You can catch the ferry to Rottnest Island from Barrack Street or from two spots in Fremantle. There are other river cruises that also depart from Barrack Street jetty - some down to Fremantle, others out to the Swan Valley wine region and history Guildford.
