Brewery
A great local brewery. They sport 2 locations not far from each other. The original is on main street with a food truck that has both indoor and outdoor seating. The 2nd location is in Dillsboro and located on the river. It has both indoor/outdoor seating as well and is newer and larger. The Dillsboro location is located near a few restaurants you can order and bring to eat at their brewery. We always stop here on our visits.

Also they offer wine excursions and their most popular trip; The Polar Express (usually November through January). Many visitors to the area come just to do this train ride.

If you are staying a while and want to do something more indoors, head to this bowling, arcade, music venue with food. Located on the side of the Harrah's Cherokee Casino, it's open to families.

For those traveling through Asheville, or have some extra days the hour drive to the Biltmore is worth it. One of the last great homes of the Robber-Barron class (Vanderbilt Family) still owned and run by the family, offers house tours, biking, Land Rover Experience, and even wine tasting. The history alone is worth it. Check out pricing and hours along with special events on their website. One note: it's not the most kid friendly adventure, unless you stick to the small outdoor farm near the wine tasting, or plan on biking around. Bikes are available to rent with child seats, and childrens bikes. Call for availability.

Local Driving
Kitchin Road (along with many local roads) are one lane gravel roads. Local custom is to take it slow and when encountering someone coming the other way, pull off to let them pass when able. If you meet someone coming down the one lane road on an incline, give way to the individuals coming down (it's much easier to back down a hill then up one!). For those not use to the steep grades, follow this advice; Don't slow down. Keep the speed up, and if you find your tires slipping, STOP, back down, get a longer head start the next time.

Parker's Creek Water Supply & Conservation
Our property, like many in our area, uses a water well on site. Our water is tested, filtered, and treated with a UV light to ensure the best quality for all of our guests. Unlike being connected to city water, our well has a finite rate at which is replenishes itself. Be concious of your water use by not taking excessively long showers, washing your car, or doing 12 loads of laundry (even though with kids, it only FEELS like 12 a day!). Our well feeds a 1,000 gallon storage tank that typically is filled up overnight when you sleep, but varies seasonally and takes longer during drier months.
