Sightseeing
There is so much to see and do around Bude. The Coastal path is endless and endlessly beautiful, with hidden coves, steep cliffs, and long sandy beaches.
This beach is my personal favorite. It's a 30 minute walk over the cliff top, or a 5 minute drive (down Maer Lane), parking in a National Trust carpark. It has all the charms of a rural beach, but is close to town.

This is a great rainy day destination, with local museum, two art galleries, and a cafe with one of the best views in town.

Summerleaze Beach is to the South of Crooklets, and you can get to it simply by going over the top of the golf course. There you will find the Sea. Pool, Canal, and The Breakwater. Well worth an explore

The canal once went the whole way to Holsworthy. These days you can walk two miles up the tow path, enjoying the birdlife and nature, and the Weir at the far end does a great cream tea/ice cream/lunch/dinner. At the Bude end pay a visit to The Barge tea room. :)

For a day trip out of town, Hartland Quay is a secret gem that time forgot. Drive down the winding cost road to the end. Incredible views, and the pub does a good pint! Lovely little gift shop, and a great place to start stunning coastal path walks.

A fantastic little village not far from Bude, with a lovely hold harbour, and the infamous Witches museum. Stunning scenery.

If you don't mind joining quite a few others who've had the same idea, visit the supposed home of King Arthur. It's a great day trip, but worth calling in advance to book tickets.

A great little beach, a day trip away.
This is our local beach. It's a short walk, and normally has lifeguard cover. You can use this beach as a launch for the coastal path to the North. When the tide is low, you can walk along the beach northwards to Northcott.

Bude is very proud of it's sea pool. There was a campaign to save it which started over 8 years ago ... and what a great job they've done. Great for an early morning dip. :)

Food scene
This is a list of eateries in the area. Some have changed their menus and the way they operate because of the current Covid Crises. I strongly recommend booking as early as possible - even before you arrive - to ensure a place, as seating will be limited. If using takeaways, again it is best to call early and book your slot. There are lots of lovely places to eat, and I'm sure I've missed a few off. Please feel free to suggest recommendations. :)

I'm not sure why the photo is of a bed, as Life's a Beach is known locally as the best fish restaurant in town. Booking is essential (especially now!). Perched above Summerleaze Beach, Life's a Beach is a daytime beach cafe, night time restaurant. Only a short walk away.

Supermarkets
In town there is a Co-op, Morrisons, Lidl and Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's is walking distance, and the smallest of them all. Co-Op is in the centre of town, Morrisons and Lidl are towards the A39 at the top/main entrance of town. Please be aware that during peak season they will be busy, and there will probably be queues.
Your local supermarket. Just 750m away. Do stop to admire the Bude tunnel to it's right which was Trip Advisors top tourist attraction in Bude for some weeks. :) It was also covered in flashing fairy lights one Christmas and did look quite spectacular - it even made the West Country News! :)
