Grizzly Creek rest area is about 2 miles east of our home. There is a rest area, picnic spots by the river, boat ramp, and trail for hiking. The Grizzly Creek trail follows the creek up the ravine. The bike path is open weather permitting. This is a beautiful hike. The trail follows Grizzly Creek up the canyon for miles. Great easy family hike for most abilities. The rest area is a quick bike ride (2 miles) or drive from our house. Plenty of parking at the rest area. This is one of our favorite destinations on our ebikes. Trail from our house follows the river with beautiful scenery, fishing holes, and bird watching. Day hiking trail for families. Many rafting companies put in at this location. 2 miles east of our house on the bike trail or via I-70. Park at the Grizzly Creek rest area. Shady picnic areas along the river.

Possibly the best value ski resort in Colorado. Good terrain, reasonable prices, friendly indoor beer garden and great deck. 15 miles from our home. It is a 30 minute drive, depending upon traffic or weather. Small mountain, so the kids cannot get lost!

Historic Marble quarry and Crystal Mill. Eat at Slow Groove Barbeque. Several nice marble art galleries along the road.

Thrilling Shoshone Chutes ride open seasonally in the hot springs, no extra charge. Great kiddie Splash Zone. food service available in the park Go in for half price after 9 pm.

Desert hiking trail up to Rifle Arch viewing. Trailhead is a couple of miles north of Rifle on highway 13. New in 2021. Mountain biking trails accessible from this parking lot. Try the Miller High Life Trail.

Rifle Mountain Park is owned and maintained by the town of Rifle. 14 miles from Rifle to the park, about a 30 minute drive. great family day trip for hiking and picnic. 60 minute drive from our home.

Food scene

Great family restaurant. Inside and outside dining. Reasonable prices and good food. Interesting specials. tip: park in the free Hot Springs parking lot and walk across the bridge to all the downtown attractions. Parking in downtown Glenwood can be difficult at the busy times. The walk across the pedestrian bridge is pleasant, and has nice views of the Hot Springs and the Colorado River.

Hikes

one mile north of our house, across the I-70 bridge. Steep at the beginning, gets easier after the initial climb up the road. Limited parking at the trailhead. Busy times may have to drop off hikers at the trailhead and leave your car at our house.
