17 miles away, located in Cataloochee Valley. It’s very wide and easy all the way to the old Woody Home site. Take time to visit the old School House and Palmer Chapel while you're in the valley. Wildlife in the valley consists of Bear, Deer, Elk, and Wild Boar. In early spring close deer sightings are common. Do not attempt to approach the Boar or Elk. Bears are seldom seen, they remain on the remote high ridges of the valley. Recommended Gear: Good hiking boots or shoes, water, a camera and bug repellent
