This lovely old building used to be the mental asylum and reportedly has a few ghosts wandering about at night. During the daytime, it's a fabulous spot for lunch, and there's free live music on the lawn on summer Sunday afternoons.

Our beloved Rotto is an absolute must. Hire bikes and cycle around the necklace of bays, or just relax at the beachfront hotel. The water is beautifully clear and snorkelling is great.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant. Copper Chimney gets a lot of attention, but Saroor serves up a more interesting cuisine in my opinion.

It's worth exploring this little piece of history at the end of the old High Street right by the beach. You'll also find an artists' colony here. Finish up at Bathers Beach for coffee or a sunset meal.

The free CAT bus stops right on the corner
The CAT follows a loop along South Terrace and back along Marine Terrace to the train station. The bus stop is right outside the front of 342 South Terrace.

The Fremantle train line runs straight into Perth
If you want to explore the City of Perth, the easiest way is to hop on the train at Fremantle. Trains run regularly and it takes around 20 mins to get into the centre.
