I am SO glad this bakery isn't four blocks closer to my apartment, because I would go there every single day. Their croissants with apple and vanilla custard are scarily good. Short walk from the apartment, but luckily not too short...

The chef is Islandic and formerly worked on THE best restaurant in Oslo (Ylajali, closed in December 2015 sadly). This is Icelandic, Asian and Nordic gourmet food in one. The ambience is easy-going, but the staff is knowledgable and the food is stuff you've never tasted before. I'm quickly approaching 10 visits...

Åpent Bakeri is a chain of really good bakeries in Oslo. The first one opened about ten years ago and became an instant hit because of their uncompromising take on baked goods. Their cinnamon buns are amazing, and even though they've expanded, the place is still as good. This is the bakery me and my girlfriend visit because the surrounding area is so beautiful. It's in a quiet, rich area, with old houses and a fountain close-by.

Their cinnamon buns are amazing, and even though they've expanded, the place is still as good. This is the bakery me and my girlfriend visit because the surrounding area is so beautiful. Solid Italian with amazing oxtail ravioli. Just order the oxtail ravioli and be happy.

One of the, if not the best pizza place in Oslo. You often have to wait, especially on weekends, but the wait is worth it. In early 2016 they opened a second restaurant in Frogner.

The chicken place, Stangeriet, has amazing food, but my favourite is the place called Ma Poule. Their duck confit sandwich is affordable, but so, so good! My drunk food temple. The only place I can eat fast food kebabs sober too. Order the double shish kebab in a tortilla (in roll), but be careful with the dressing (medium is enough unless you love spicy stuff). They also have great falafel.

Lovely little pizza place with take-away only. The number 33, Picasso, is my favourite. Marinated chicken, pesto, sundried tomatoes and pine nuts.

One of the classics in Oslo, known for their insane dessert cart. The only place I've ever visited with an eat-all-you-want of gourmet desserts. An Oslo favourite just because of that. The food in itself is solid French food.

Oslo is flushed with amazing burger restaurants! San Francisco, Amsterdam, Copenhagen...none of the mentioned beats Oslo when it comes to burgers. Illegal Burger is the classic amazing burger place, and I've never been disappointed by their burgers. The Hot Mama Deluxe is my personal favourite, but both their truffel burger, their Illegal special and the Ol' Mcdonald is great. My tip if you're really hungry: order two small ones instead of a double with fries.

This is a true gem! Travel to this island by boat from Aker Brygge and walk around in peaceful surroundings with tons of history. If you're lucky, you might spot one of the several foxes that live on the island. A favourite all year around, and a place to go if you have enough time in Oslo.

Norwegians love winter sports, and the Holmenkollen ski jump tower is a sight. The museum is cool, the view you get of Oslo is close to unbeatable, and the sight of the ski jump hill is cool in itself.

My personal museum favourite in Oslo! The Norwegian Technical Museum is such a fun place! Always a good, current exhibit, a large area with permanent exhibitions, which makes a perfect museum for people of all ages. By the way: every Thursday they have late night events. Beer + technical fun is always good - in my mind.
