The president photos are great and one of the great things about this museum is the building itself. There is a great atriumm where you can grab lunch or bring a picnic. It's connected to the museum of American Art which has some fun modern art that kids love to look at.

While this museum isn't free it's worth a visit if you're interested in architect, design or urban living. It's also really kid friendly. The building itself is interesting and historic. If you don't want to visit the museum you can still go in and enjoy the atrium and grab a coffee at the cafe inside. In the summer they do these giant interactive installations in the atrium that are always great.

National Building Museum
401 F St NWWhile this museum isn't free it's worth a visit if you're interested in architect, design or urban living. It's also really kid friendly. The building itself is interesting and historic. If you don't want to visit the museum you can still go in and enjoy the atrium and grab a coffee at the cafe inside. In the summer they do these giant interactive installations in the atrium that are always great.

You need a car for this one but with the air and space museum in town under partial renovation this one is worth the drive. It's huge and one of the space shuttles lives here.

We like the East wing for the kids. The tunnel that connects the two buildings is not to be missed. Also the cafe has some of the best food of any of the museum's (but it's pricey).
