There are markets. And then there are Markets! The market in Olhao is an amazing mix of hustle, bustle, smells and just loads of amazingness! You want to come here on a Saturday because that is when the market is in full bloom. This is where the locals buy their groceries and fresh fish.

The locals are here. They have come from all over Olhao. A boat just arrived from the islands outside of Olhao and people are getting of. Each and everyone is equipped with a trolley. It is time to do some serious shopping. And this is the place where it’s all going to happen. And even if there is a lot of people there – this is still a very well organized market.

The locals are here. They have come from all over Olhao. A boat just arrived from the islands outside of Olhao and people are getting of. Each and everyone is equipped with a trolley. It is time to do some serious shopping. And this is the place where it’s all going to happen. And even if there is a lot of people there – this is still a very well organized market.

Faro Island isn’t officially an island but is actually joined to the mainland by a narrow road that leads to a small number of parking areas. This is the beginning of the stretch of ‘barrier islands’ separated from the main land by the Ria Formosa.
The island has cafés, restaurants and some hotels/B&Bs. There is also a very popular trendy bar with music and wonderful views over the beach and sea.
This island, like the other five, is very popular with locals and Portuguese holidaymakers down from Lisbon and the north. Faro Island is incredibly long and, if you have the energy to walk to the far end in the heat of August, you will pass by many kite surfers, jet skiers, and patrons of the school of water sports, to get to a vast area of gloriously deserted beach.
A bus runs regularly from Faro bus station to this island all year round

One of the most enthusiastic characteristics is the unique scent of the island. Due to lack of air pollution, and especially when a wet atmosphere occurs, Deserta is emerged on a vibrant orchestra of aromas.

Speedboats - Island Shuttle - A unique Travel experience
We have multiple semi-rigids and speedboats (RIB - Rigid Inflatable Boat) with capacity between 8 and 26 passengers.
Ideal for a quick transportation to the Island (15 minutes), for example to have lunch at Estaminé restaurant. We call this transportation the “Island Shuttle”, and we also have a cabin speedboat, for extra comfort during winter time.
