Food scene

This is the best place to buy groceries and every day items during your stay. More than just souvenirs this open air market has hot and fresh food, clothes, tools, hand made items and so much more. The best part is that it’s only a 5 minute walk from the house!

Located next to the Mercado de Artesanías this market is the best place to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh flowers, and get San Miguel’s famous sandwiches (tortas), milkshakes (chocomil), and fresh smoothies (líquidos)!

Shopping

Hand made goods of all kinds
This is the best place to see what San Miguel is really all about. All of the crafts are hand made by the people themselves! You are sure to find a nice shirt, pair of earrings or necklace, ceramic figures, hats, etc. They also sell mans things made of silver here so be on the lookout for great bargains! Be sure to pack your walking shoes, this is a double sided long strip and is sure to take your time without notice!

People are friendly

Everyone is willing to help, you just have to ask!
Транспорт

Buses are the cheapest way to get around

Buses charge about 8 pesos a person and get you to your locations fast. San Miguel has an extensive bus route all around the city both inside and out. The closest bus stop is only a 5 minute walk from the house towards the neighborhood entrance. Look up bus routes online and look for the bus route numbers as they pass.

Bathrooms are not free anywhere!

Public bathrooms are few and far between. You will also have to pay to enter them. Usually 5 pesos per person. You receive toilet paper before entering when you pay. However, you will only be given about 10 squares. My tip: go before leaving the house and bring extra toilet paper!!
