Trastevere is certainly one of Rome's most characteristic neighbourhoods, where between tiny lively alleys, Roman trattorias, small markets, shops and artisan workshops, it's still possible to get lost to find the essence of the most authentic and genuine Rome.
From Santa Maria in Trastevere to Piazza Trilussa, through Vicolo del Cinque, Via della Scala, Vicolo del Moro or Vicolo del Bologna, you can still feel in the air the smells of typical products of old Rome. By sunset, young people gather here to have a chat or drink a beer in company in one of the many pubs and night bars of the area.

his restaurant is incredibly authentic and absolutely delicious. There are no reservations and very long lines at this restaurant but it is well worth it. While waiting in about a 45 minute line you’ll hear mainly Italian being spoken while people wait for your table. When seated I highly recommend the warm focaccia bread because it was the best I’ve ever had in my life. The pasta was to die for and a bit firmer than what Americans are accustomed but tasted divine.

On a quiet backstreet, La Botticella offers pure Roman cooking, outside under the lines of flapping washing or inside in the picture-lined salon. Menu stalwarts include tripe and rigatoni alla paiata (pasta with calf’s intestines), but there are less hardcore dishes, such as an excellent spaghetti all’amatriciana (pasta with a spicy tomato sauce, pecorino and cured pork). Note vine-covered facade.

ncredible cheese and meat boards, we had a few in Rome and this one was bar far the best, there’s a great selection to choose from and you pay for the board size you’d like.
The meats are amazing, in particular the porchetta, and come with hunks of bread. This is a really nice chilled out place with a friendly buzz, we had a huge meat and cheese board and lovely bottle of wine for around 40 Euros

It is an amazing small restaurant hidden in a lovely and quiet place. THe food is great, and the people were very polite.

This is a 17th-century baroque monument which belongs to the Discalced Carmelite order of nuns. The interior contains works by Caravaggio and his pupils. There's also a pharmacological oddity in the annexes associated with the building: They include a modern pharmacy as well as a room devoted to arcane jars and herbal remedies that haven't changed very much since the 18th century.

The ticket is €12 and admits you also to Palazzo Barberini, that I highly recommend.
