Tattooed Moose (Johns Island location- 20 mins) is a fun casual restaurant that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives TV show! It has a great outdoor setting with live music under the Oak trees. It’s a unique and kid friendly place - you can draw all over the tables and walls of the restaurant with sharpie markers they supply! Ps. Try the Duck Fat Fries and made-to-order pork rinds if that’s your thing! https://www.tattooedmoose.com/phone/index.html

Things to do

Freshfields Village is a great evening (or anytime!) destination. Harris Teeter Grocery Store has awesome fresh foods if you feel like cooking, or need to pick up some things. The village is full of Restaurants, shops and weekly happenings. The new hotel has an awesome bar open to the public. We love to have a drink on their porch and enjoy the rocking chairs. Check out the Freshfields events calendar here: https://freshfieldsvillage.com/events/calendar/

South Carolina Aquarium... “Fun, wonder and education come together at the South Carolina Aquarium. See a rare albino American alligator, get hands-on at the Touch Tank, marvel at the sharks in the Great Ocean Tank, come face-to-face with rays in the Shallows, or see our brand new state-of-the-art sea turtle hospital in the new Zucker Family Sea Turtle Recovery experience.” The aquarium is located on the Charleston Harbor and there is a parking garage located directly across the street making it easily accessible. (The aquarium is also located next to the Fort Sumter visitor and tour center. Visitor center is free!)

The Angel Oak tree is an absolute must see. It’s thought to be the oldest living thing east of the Mississippi. It will blow you away! https://www.angeloaktree.com

Bohicket Marina is 1 mile from our villa!! It’s another favorite spot! A great place to see boats and enjoy the sunset. It has many dining options, including Lokal Seabar, the famous Salty Dog Cafe (new 2019!), a nice little Mexican restaurant, as well as an Icecream shop. This is a great place to ride your bike! In-season there is live music every Tuesday night, 6:30-9pm. Every Wednesday morning there is a kids fishing “tournament” from 9-11am... $7 and rods/bait are included!! https://bohicket.com

Beach access info/map. We recommend boardwalk 1 (you’ll need to walk through the property owners parking lot). There is public parking along Oyster Catcher Court. Our other favorite beach is Pelican Beach. You can access this beach via the Beach Club (amenity card required) - usually we set up poolside and then venture down to this beach throughout the day. https://tidelinesblog.com/2018/06/24/public-boardwalks/amp/

Sightseeing

Charleston is about 30 minutes away. If you never been, we highly recommend a horse drawn carriage tour. It’s a fun and easy way to learn about Charleston’s rich history! There are many sites to see, places to eat, and stores to shop!
