Squaw Valley was the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics. For this reason alone, it is worth a look. But, that is not the reason to go. You should go because the mountain is break-taking. Few resorts can compare to squaw skiing terrain. Squaw is hands down one of the best places to ski in the world. However, Squaw is worth a visit in the summer too. Hike to the top for exhilarating exercise, views and sense of accomplishment. Not feeling it, then take the tram and hang out at the pool or go ice skating. One way or another, get to the top and break in the beauty.

Great skiing. We prefer skiing at Squaw, but Alpine is often better on stormy, windy winter days since it is a little more protected. It is also better if you have a large group of beginner or intermediate skiiers since there is more of a selection of easier terrain. Just my opinion of course. The good news is: Squaw and Alpine are owned by the same group so your lift ticket is good at both resorts, and there is a free shuttle between the resorts, so you can experience both resorts if you so choose.

Sit at the bar and enjoy the appetizers and a drinks. They offer happy hour in the winter months. Sadly, there is no happy hour in the summer.

Amazing food, suitable for small group or a romantic date night dinner. In the summer months, there is a pop-up bar outside that is much more casual and fun. If you are a big group, forget eating here, instead go to the outside bar and enjoy the view of the lake.
