Kastellet is a well maintained star fortification. In the 19th century it has been used as a prison and was later taken over by German forces during the second World War. The area comprise of a Dutch-style windmill, a citadel with grassy battlements. The area can be accessed through on of the two bridges that connect it to the rest of the city.

Copenhagen’s largest fountain which represents the Norse goddess Gefion and a group of oxen. The fountain is surrounded by traditional canons and Neo-Gothic St. Albans Church as well as scenic views.

It is small and very popular attraction amongs tourists. A definite must see bronze sculpture is based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales.

Also pay attention to the flags at the top of each of the 4 buildings. If the flag is up it means that a part of the Royal Family is at home.

Just around the corner from Amalienbord is Marble Church. This is the largest dome church in Scandinavia which features phenomenal artwork inside. If you are lucky you may be able to get a ticket for the tour of the dome at 13.

The lovely pastel coloured old buldings around the canal are full of cafes and restaurants. The restaurants mostly specialize in serving traditional and overpriced danish food.
Christiansborg houses the Folketing (Danish Parliament) and the Prime Minister’s Office. Many areas of the palace are open to visitors.

Baroque church which was constructed in the late 17th century. Famous for its golden spire which will give you a great view of the city. The only way up that spire is outdoor stairs so not something recommended to those afraid of heights.
