It is 2 minutes by car or 10-15 minutes by foot from our property. If you wish to experience the Rio Grande habitate with bird watching opportunities, native plants, and trails leading to the Rio Grande this is a place to get started. Of course, you can walk straight to the Rio Grande River and trails from the property too, we'll be happy to show you the way. Did you know, the Bosque around the Rio Grande River is the largest cottonwood forest in the world …and you are literally 300 yards walking distance from it? Snowing if cottonwood in July. Fall colors best in early October. Bird migration late Spring and Fall.

Balloon Fiesta!! The most photographed event in the world. You can see balloons year round in Albuquerque and they love to fly over the Rio Grande which is just a short walk away. Fall is the best time to be in Albuquerque with amazing temperatures, smell and tastes of harvest, Fall colors and all the balloons in the air.

NM is rich with Native Americans and culture! Each tribe is unique with cultural traditions, dances, costumes, jewelry, pottery and more. If you have time and days to travel to various Indian reservations and/or Santa Fe you should, but if you don’t have time this is the one stop shop to get culture. Check the website as they do have free Native American dances weekly. Bonus is that this is only about a 3- 5 minute drive. They have a GREAT restaurant too but if you want something more casual head across the street for a famous Laguna burger.

Only about 55 minutes west of Albuquerque. Although you have many Native American Pueblos to choose from, this one provides dwellings, history, culture, art and pottery, and 360 panoramic views on top of the Mesa. Walking is involved and it’s not handicapped assessable. It’s HOT, you’ll need a hat, good walking shoes, sunscreen and water!! Tours run daily and takes about an hour. Word to the wise, always ask and receive permission prior to taking photographs in/on any Native American land/Pueblo/people.

Near by coffee shop. The coffee roaster worked for Peet's Coffee and if you like Peet's or craft coffee this is the place for you. They offer Macadamia milk for those with lactose intolerance in their lattes. Not much for breakfast though, but you can head next door to an Albuquerque-known breakfast spot, the Range Cafe.

Located at Hotel Chaco on the fifth floor. Breathtaking views of Albuquerque both to the East, South, and West. Menus change and has quite a cocktail list. Usually requires reservations for dinner and even drinks. Hotel does have a nice assortment of shops for Native American jewerly too, but likely can find better deals shopping around.

OK, that's not the best picture for Seasons on Mountain Rd! But the roof top bar offers year round casual food and delicious breverage options. I love margaritas and this is one place I would go. The restruant down stairs requires reservations and yes we would recommend it for a more romantic dinner. Remember, NM is a very causal dress state, but the food downstairs has more $$ attached - hence our recommendation of "romantic."

Reservations required for brunch and dinner. Menu changes but can try local, farm to table and NM game items. Hip restaurant if you are a foodie! Additionally, Los Poblanos farm is famous for lavender and they have a gift shop full of lavender everything: soaps, oils, sprays, ice cream, sachets and more. The huevos rancheros is delicious. Thank you COVID for making us step away from our normal favorites. This is a great lunch spot and Happy Hour Spot in the courthouse district. Following in the style of Napa’s Oxbow Market, San Francisco’s Ferry Market, and the Boston City Market, this new marketplace will feature New Mexico culinary experiences, farmers, food artisans, craftsmen, and artists. Due to COVID you’ll be limited on indoor seating but there’s plenty outdoor patio space. There’s great food, beer, and wine options to meet everyone’s palate. Highly recommend the Brooklyn Basement at Hawt Pizza, the GC skinny burger at Feel Goods, BBQ brisket at 165 and udon at Narato. In truth we haven’t made it through all the vendors yet but we are trying. Additionally, save room for frozen ice found in the patio section or chocolate at El Dora!! Oh and the cocoa body butter works wonders on those sanitized dry hands.

Delicious pastries, coffee, and preserves. In the land of chili 🌶 well you just have to try it as a jam or danish. Recommend grab some to go the day before then wake up early, brew some coffee, take a seat on the back patio and hope to watch hot air balloons drift down the Rio Grande and Bosque.

We love to hike and NM has plenty of trails. The Sandia Mountains offer an oasis of trails from easy to difficult. Beautiful course on the Santa Ana reservation. If you couldn’t afford the Hyatt Regency Tamaya you can still experience their course with amazing views. Couples can play easily here as the forward tees make it fair to play. This is native land so you’ll enjoy rabbits, deer (around the 11 hole) and snakes. Signs are posted, but better to leave the ball in the rough, then search and encounter rattle snakes, but rest assured the beauty and views are worth the trek about 45-1 hour from us.

WE love to hike! Our favorite trail to recommend is 333D trail, taking about an hour to get to the saddle for panoramic views and about 45 minutes down. Good elevation gain but doesn't take the entire day and it set you up for a hardy lunch! I always say, "I'll hike anything as long as there's a burger and beer waiting for me at the end."
