Big surf beach - good walking. Also home of gannet colony. Couple of cafes for hot chips and drinks, ice cream etc
Cool beach to take a blanket and watch the surfers.
Combine with a trip to a local Winery for a day out

Lovely walk through the bush ending at a waterfall with swimming hole - gentle walk - just a bit of a challenge at the end. Look for signposting right by RSA before you get to Piha beach

Definitely a day trip but cool little upmarket village with lots of good place to eat - combine with a stop in Walkworth on the way up and the Sawmill at Leigh for lunch
Lots of good wineries up this way and wonderful beaches
