Food scene

Austin is getting a reputation for the excellence and diversity of its cuisines. It is not overrated!
For the outdoor lounge, the BBQ and asian fusion cuisine, and the free green tea, iced tea and lemonade!

Amazing beer garden with food trucks. They have an amazing landscaping designer. Good beer, good food and comfortable sitting area. They have hens. One of our favorite place to hang out.

At first, I didn't think there was a lot or any difference at all in the different BBQ joints. There is. This is an excellent one and it's less busy than Frankin's... But it's still very busy so you should expect a queue when you get there.

Used to be a carpenter union. Minimalist decor that looks like 80's Eastern Germany, but in a very nice way... Hard to explain. Excellent healthy food, great place to hang out. Love this place.

Outdoor fun

Enjoying the outdoors and the beautiful nature in and around Austin.
Walking distance from our house. Must see this place. Fresh water, diving board, huge pool. Authentic Austin experience that has been enjoyed by locals and travelers since probably 1590! (not the diving board, I mean the fresh source water that naturally springs in the area and forms a natural pool. This has been there before Austin was founded.

There are miles and miles of pristine river and banks. Swimming in the rapids is dangerous but so much fun! Ask us for good itineraries and what you can expect (water levels, entry points, times to visit, etc).

Rooftop bar

Located inside the new and trendy hotel The Line, P6 is one of the best roof top from where you have the best views on Congress bridge, the Colorado river, and the bats!

Newly built hotel right next to the convention center, it is an unusual place. The lavish and fun deco make you feel you are in Las Vegas, it is quite unique. On the ground floor bar, a huge tree lights up the whole space inside, chill bands usually perform there. On the 7th floor, the rooftop bar gives you a chance to enjoy a well deserved downtime with a beautiful view of the city. We love this place!

Places I like most

Place you probably won't find in guides or magazines.
The central library is a gem. It apparently went way over budget, but the result is amazing. This is an oasis of peace and books. I love to take a book and read on the 6th floor rooftop garden, yes, garden! You can work or just sit, enjoying the views of Austin. It's just a nice place to be. Even the restaurant on the ground floor is worth a visit. Don't miss the giant grackle clock.
