Seneca Rocks is composed of the Tuscarora Sandstone deposited during the Early Silurian Period approximately 425 million years ago, when the waters of an ancient sea covered West Virginia. It’s an erosion-resistant rock called a quartz arenite. The view is breathtaking. I mean it!

Just the perfect place to take a short walk, or a long walk-you choose. Complete with decorative flowers, including wild ones. Boat launch and restrooms. The city’s dog park is located there as well.

Known worldwide for it’s historic and ghost tours this National Historic Landmark is well worth your time. It is the largest hand-cut stone masonry building in North America. It was constructed between 1858-1881.
