Only few minutes away from the house! This is a little hidden gem Thai restaurant in Silverlake! Their Green Curry Dumpling and Devil Wings are my favorite. Their prices are very reasonable. Usually there is plenty of street parking but sometimes it gets crowded.

Arguably the most popular ramen spot on the Eastside, SilverLake Ramen consistently draws lines for its addictive tonkotsu. Start with a light bite, try the cucumber salad with slivers of crab, sprouts, sesame seed and house vinaigrett before moving onto heartier Japanese staples. You have to try the house specialty, spicy tonkotsu. PLEASE NOTE: it can get very packed so I would recommend join the Waitlist on Yelp. Trust me, it's worth the wait!

A massively popular Thai joint with its kitschy vibe is the perfect match for Silver Lake. This is some of the finest Thai food in the city, in a casual setting suited for almost anything. PLEASE NOTE: The bright space isn’t particularly big, so waits can get insane. But that crunchy rice salad and those wings are worth it.

A Fine Dining Chef Takes on Modern Filipino Food! Even though there’s never an empty table, things always manage to feel relaxed at Ma’am Sir. My Recommendation: The shrimp deviled eggs, pork sisig and the sensational longganisa sandwich are already marked down as musts. Make sure to make room for the warm dessert of banana bibingka, a traditional rice cake, here served with pandan whipped cream.

Things to do in Silver Lake

Echo park is a great urban oasis that has a beautiful water display, paddle boat rental place for $11/person for adults, $6/person for kids for a 1 hour ride on the lake. Plenty of turtles, birds, and other wildlife. Vendors are sprinkled around the park with a variety of treats, a GIANT cup of fruit for only $7. Others had chips, hot dogs and there's a small cafe offering coffees, teas and treats. A few benches are sprinkled around the lake, available to rest tired feet or provide awesome selfies. I suggest getting there early and spending at least an hour. It's the perfect place to have a picnic with your family and is a lovely place for a date!

Pop a squat, bring a picnic, and enjoy a book, answer your email, the company of a loved one, or even just someone you moderately tolerate (they'll seem a lot more interesting as the sun sets on the reservoir)

It's a wine shop with a friendly staff and an awesome layout. A flight for 3 wine will be $15 which is a great deal because they're pretty generous for the pour. After you do a flight you can get a normal sized pour for only $5! What a steal!

Western Cuisine

Alimento is the tiny neighborhood Italian spot where you take your parents to prove how far you’ve come. That’s not to say it’s wildly expensive, it’s actually somewhat reasonable. The space is stark and modern, and the food is some of the best Italian in LA! My Recommendation: The pig in a blanket. The cracked emmer salad . The tortellini in brodo. The squid ink radiatori. The rice pudding.

Forage serves the sort of food you could eat everyday: perfect rotisserie chicken, buttery quiche and lovely prepared salads like quinoa with white beans and cherry tomatoes. Don’t miss the vibrant green mix of cavolo nero and arugula in the barest of bright lemon-olive oil dressing, finished with salty feta and bread crumbs

This spot hugely influenced the entire Eastside psyche with their healthy and actually-satisfying breakfast/brunch menu. Only open till 4pm everyday, you have to go to this order-at-the-counter cafe already at peace with how long you’ll be waiting in line, but the food is always worth it.

Middle Eastern Cuisine

Beautiful casual modern Middle Eastern restaurant doesn’t get the love it deserves. The kitchen combines Lebanese, Israeli, and North African flavors to produce a shockingly well-executed menu that anybody could order from happily.

Israeli food is having a moment, and Mh Zh is one of L.A.’s best restaurants to enjoy it! Silver Lake's Middle Eastern gem is affordable, trendy and totally tasty, but prepare to wait, there's not much seating, and the line can wrap around the block.

Best things to do in L.A

A free, contemporary art museum in Downtown L.A. Three words: Infinity Mirror Rooms. The persistently popular museum has two of Yayoi Kusama’s immersive, mirror-laden rooms (and the standy queue to prove it). Elsewhere in the museum, Eli and Edythe Broad’s collection of 2,000 postwar works includes artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger and Jeff Koons. PLEASE NOTE: Free tickets are available on the first day of the previous month. If you miss out on reservations, monitor the Broad’s wait time on Twitter.

OUE Skyspace LA brings to life unparalleled, 360-degree views on one of California's tallest open-air observation deck, nearly 1,000 feet above Downtown Los Angeles. You have to try the Skyslide, the glass-encased slide attached to the U.S. Bank Tower’s exterior, shuttles visitors from the 70th floor down to the 69th. The slide isn’t as terrifying as you’d think!
