(mostly cheap) Things in NYC that I like

FOODS, BOOZE, COFFEE

A lot of the places I tend to go to are pretty inexpensive. So only a couple of things on this list are at all fancy. (Plenty more to come as a scan through the city in my mind.) (Also, this list is in no particular order. I'll have to sort it out someday. Sorry.)
The best sandwich and worst kept secret in NY delis is Sunny & Annie's. If it's your first time, get the Pho #1. If it's your second time, try the soup, whichever soup they have that day. Everyone knows about their sandwiches but sleeps on their soups. Here's an old Village Voice article about this place from back when: bit.ly/SunnyAnnieVV ...and it' still the fucking best.

Walk that Sunny & Annies sammich you got up to B-Side where you can chow down on it at the bar. This place is low key and relaxed. It has both a cheap Beer + Shot Special and some good beers on the menu too.

Great pizza. There are a ton of dollar pizza places all around here, but if you have $3.50 for a slice, get the margherita here instead. THIS IS A CHAIN WITH A TON OF LOCATIONS, ALL GOOD.

They roast the beans right there in front of you, and the coffee is pressed like espresso so it gets this fantastic top layer of crema. Don't go putting any cream or sugar into your cup before giving it a taste black! It might turn you into a black coffee drinker.

Great cocktails in a very small and intimate setting. The owner himself is often behind the bar showing off his creativity. The drinks here are not made with mixers or fillers or sugary bullshit. Every ingredient in them is alcohol. And they're fantastic!

This is probably the only "Speakeasy" type thing I go to. But the drinks are so damn good. It's inside of Village Yokocho, behind a door to your left once you've reached the top of the stairs.

Best Chinese take-out in town. Another place that I like to get food from to sit and eat in a park or a bar. You must get the cumin lamb noodles in soup. I suggest getting them spicy. This might be my favorite bar. I love to come here on Halloween and watch all the people in their costumes from the balcony. Great 2 for 1 happy hour. Free pool table. A working fire place for the winter. Jamaican food. Quite tables in the back. The entrance looks as if you're heading into an apartment building, but just turn left at the top of the stairs. You'll locate the place by looking for their awning over those stairs.

Fun, faced paced Italian deli. There's about a dozen guys working behind the counter at any time. One of them will grab your attention--that's your guy. He'll take care of you and only you until you're through. Even though you're there for the sandwiches, get a couple of prosciutto balls and a couple of potato croquettes. Make sure they warm them up for you. Eat them on the go, or have a seat at nearby park or fountain anywhere.

I mean, this place... Ask anyone from the Upper West Side about this place. The service here is super fast, so don't be alarmed. The food is so good. You must try the pastrami salmon on a bagel with capers, tomatoes, and onions, and cream cheese of course. You can get it open faced with extra toppings and split it between two people. Also, get the potato pancakes!
