Visiting the area

San Michele di Pagana is a Fisherman's village just on the beach, it's a kind of miniature of the famous Portofino. You can go on foot from the house: when you leave the property gate you take left and you walk down the street to the small village of San Michele, in a few minutes you reach the beach and there you can have a coffee or quick and simple lunch, if the weather is nice and warm, at small food shop with a few tables on the pathway with the beach and the small port just in front. On your way back home, instead of walking on the street, you can walk alongside the beaches and the rocks on the sea of a small and delightful peninsula to reach the beach of Prelo and then walk up to the church where there is a Van Dyck masterpiece and then in a few minutes you are back at home. The walk will be about 20 minutes and it's worth

It is a typical ligurian town with a beautiful promenade on the sea. Shops, supermarkets and a nice walk on the port, where there are very good restaurants: I always go to Restaurant l'Altro Eden according to me "the best fish in town" but there are also other restaurants more famous like La Taverna del Marinaio or others you can find on Tripadvisor. In Santa you find a very good focaccia to buy and take home at Panificio Pinamonti Via dell'Arco 23, or Fiordiponti via Ruffini, 26. There are supermarkets like Coop Corso Matteotti, 42 - no parking place) or Gulliver (via dogali, 22 - with parking place). One of the things to visit if you have time is Villa Durazzo, which is very nice, but check if there are no weddings, otherwise you can't get in.

You can also reach San Fruttuoso on foot, from Portofino, if you like trekking. You go up the hill and you follow indications. The pathway is very steep and the walk may last a few hours. You have to wear shoes suitable for long walk and mind children because high slopes to the see could be dangerous. Once you reach San Fruttuoso on foot the program is the same and to go back to Piazzetta you take the small public ferry.
