They make delicious South American sandwiches called arepas. The service is very friendly, and they also make custom tea blends and delicious fried plantains, chochones and paella.

Housed in a gorgeously restored Standard Oil service station, the restaurant is a 3-block walk from the apartment and has great BBQ, not to mention all manner of farm-to-table goodness and a patio for outdoor dining in the spring and summer. Full bar, too. They make great lunch and dinner, not to mention Sunday brunch.

Full bar, too. They make great lunch and dinner, not to mention Sunday brunch.

My guests can swim at this lovely park if I accompany them. Always happy to give you a lift to the pool, even if I can't stay. Lovely views of sailboats and Lake Saint Clair here.

The home is a museum, and is one of the few places in the Detroit area where you can see Alfred Kahn's architecture as a fully realized family home. They host outdoor movies in the summer, garden tours, home tours and special events like symphony performances (which sell out quick).
