This neighborhood coffee shop also roasts coffee on site. These folks have some of the best coffee in the city. Zeke's also sell pastries (including kolaches which are a favorite from Liz's hometown of Houston, TX) but not a full breakfast menu.

Menomale is a certified Napoletana pizzeria and is a few blocks from our house. The owner of this restaurant is originally from Naples and knows pizzas! We love the Chef's Special pizza but you can't go wrong with any pizza you get here. This place is very tiny so either plan to go early or possibly wait for a table. There is outside seating here. Menomale will not deliver but you can order and carry out as well.

Zaytinya is in Chinatown and can be reached by metro or Uber. This is a fantastic Middle Eastern restaurant brought to you by our famous DC chef Jose Andres. The food here is amazing. Go early or reserve a table in advance because this place can get busy. The restaurant has a fantastic outdoor patio (a rarity in that neighborhood) so is a nice place to go when the weather is good.

701 9th St NWZaytinya is in Chinatown and can be reached by metro or Uber. This is a fantastic Middle Eastern restaurant brought to you by our famous DC chef Jose Andres. The food here is amazing. Go early or reserve a table in advance because this place can get busy. The restaurant has a fantastic outdoor patio (a rarity in that neighborhood) so is a nice place to go when the weather is good.

1356 Okie St NEThis place is owned by the folks who supply a lot of seafood to the city's restaurants so you will get the freshest fish in town here. This place has a fantastic patio as well. Please note that this neighborhood is in transition so you will want to be careful when going into and leaving the restaurant if you drive there.
This restaurant has solid food and an outstanding beer selection, it is right next to the Brookland metro.

This is a hidden gem in the city which is about a 10 minute drive from our house. The Arboretum is 446 acres in size. The park has walking trails, gardens, a lake and even a pair of bald eagles that nest in the park during the springtime. There is no entrance fee for this park.

Getting Around
This is the closest bus stop near our house. You can take the 82, 83 or 86 bus to Rhode Island metro. If you download the DC Metro Transit app, you can look up the bus arrival times. You will want to search "next bus", enter bus number 83 and then click on South to Rhode Island Ave station and look for the Rhode Island Ave + 17th Street stop to see when the next bus is coming. The bus cost $1.75 for each person. You can use cash or a Smarttrip card (those need to be purchased at the metro station).
