The Broadmoor Resort is a wonderful asset to our neighborhood! We get to walk up and enjoy food and drinks at their many restaurants, cafes, and lounges. We love what Ivywild School represents in our community--innovation, collaboration, and repurposing to bring new life. This historic school turned brewery, restaurant, coffee shop, distillery, co-working space, music venue has done wonders for the Ivywild neighborhood and is such an asset to our area. We have had laughs, great food, listened to amazing music, and shopped the local farmer's market on these grounds in the last few years.

Shopping

We love this store! It's a great place to buy new and used outdoor clothing and gear. It's a great spot to stop if you forgot to pack that extra layer that you always need when you're in Colorado! Also a great, nearby spot for trail maps, backpacks or other items for an outdoor adventure.

A local outdoor outfitter with clothing and gear for all seasons. Staff are knowledgeable and a great source of info for local outdoor activities. They also rent camping equipment in the summer and skis and snowshoes in the winter. Plus, it's right in the heart of Downtown and always fun to peruse.

Poor Richard's is a must visit for anyone. The complex actually contains the new and used bookstore (plus gifts), Rico's Coffee Shop and Cafe, Little Richard's Toy Store, and Poor Richard's Restaurant. A whole lot going on in a few connected storefronts! Food is quick and good, and evenings you might catch some music inside Rico's.

Natural Grocers is a Colorado-based natural food store. A lot of the locals will call it Vitamin Cottage. They carry only organic produce and pasture-raised dairy products. They have a pretty good variety of locally grown or products in their stores.

Yup! We have one! If you haven't been, go and see what the hype is all about. We used to shop at Trader Joe's all the time when we lived on the East Coast. Now that they've arrived in town, I don't make it very often. Still, there are some amazing things I enjoy that I can only find at TJ's...can you say whole hazelnut chocolate bars? Yum!

We have a Whole Foods too. Not as impressive as their flagship store in Austin, Texas where my family is but not bad. Go on a Friday and score one of their wood-fired pizzas for $10!

Entertainment & Activities

The SunWater Spa is a great spot for so much! Come to a movement class or meditation or workshop. We love their Story Project nights of hearing community members tell stories. We also love to go soak in their heated mineral pools with a mountain view! An amazing way to relax after a hike!

What better way to see Pikes Peak than to take a train?! If you aren't hiking up it, book yourself a ride in the Cog and enjoy the ride! If you're lucky you'll see wildflowers and maybe some mountain goats, depending on the time of the year. Once you're at the top, you'll have epic views on a clear day!

Parks & Nature

You can't miss a stroll around these beautiful, iconic rocks! We enjoy hiking the area away from the main parking lot for beautiful views and slightly less people on the trail. Just pick up a trail map at the visitor's center first because the trails can be a bit confusing. If you're lucky, you will catch a glimpse of the bighorn sheep that gaze the area.

One of our favorite little hikes! We love it so much, we named our guest suite after it! It can get busy (so go early in the summer!), but it's a beautiful little trail with wild raspberries and beautiful views of S. Cheyenne Canon and Seven Falls as well as The Broadmoor Resort and Downtown.

Super close State Park with hiking/biking trails that never gets as busy as the local city parks. It's a great spot in the winter because a lot of it's trails get sun and will keep you warm. We hike in the Stratton Open Space daily. It's just a quarter of a mile away from us, and it's an easy favorite. As you hike or bike up the hill, you will find two Colorado Springs Utilities Reservoirs. The lower reservoir is open spring, summer, and fall for dogs to go swimming, and we enjoy hiking up and enjoying a picnic on the beach surrounded by views of Mt. Cutler, Mt. Muscoco, and Cheyenne Mountain.
