A tram 800 meters into the mountain, followed by a cable car that takes you 800 meters up right beneath the top of Gaustatoppen. NOK 350 for a ticket.

Vemork was the site of the first plant in the world to mass-produce heavy water. During World War II, Vemork was the target of Norwegian heavy water sabotage operations which possibly changed the outcome of the war. The heavy water plant was closed in 1971, and in 1988 the power station became the Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum.
