This is the closet beach to our house - and an easy bike ride. It is long, sandy and very pleasant. If you bike or walk you won't need to worry about parking.

If you're looking for an afternoon workout, a brisk walk around back bay racks up about 4 miles, and you're next to the inland bay the whole way. Easy dirt walking trail right next to downtown portland. There's a parking lot near the Hannafords if you want to drive and park, then walk.
