Built 1779, it's the first arch bridge in the world to be made of cast iron. So early that Abraham Darby the Quaker iron-founder used carpentry joints. Made in Coalbrookdale foundry. A must see site.

There are flat cycle rides and walks beside the river Severn, steep and challenging walks up and down the sides of Ironbridge Gorge. Hikes out of the Gorge can take you to scenic places such as Benthall Hall a 16th century National Trust property or to the picturesque town of Much Wenlock which is home of the modern Olympics.
