Delicious farm-to-table Italian food and inventive cocktails, in a warm, urban rustic setting. Check out the garden if it's warm. The Saraghina bakery and the tapas bar, both adjacent, are also excellent.

Super famous restaurant serving delicious farm-to-table food, including produce grown on the Brooklyn Grange rooftop garden. A bit pricey and can get crowded, but if you go during off-hours it's great.

Rockaway Beach has perhaps the most eclectic surf/beach scene in the country! Not exactly a "parks and nature" getaway, but it's still the ocean! I've seen a humpback whale there, as well as dolphins on a regular basis. Take the A train at Utica to Beach 67/Averne by the Sea and walk 2 blocks to the beach. There are GREAT gourmet food offerings, beer and wine at the boardwalk concessions area.
