Sightseeing

It's hard to list all the places worth visiting, so please let us know if you need more information. The most popular among visitors are a Peninsula tour, which includes Chapman's Peak Drive, Cape Point and the penguins in Simonstown. Also a highlight is the city tour with a trip up Table Mountain in the cable car. The Cape Winelands are also not to be missed. The magnificent Kirstenbosch Gardens are also hugely popular, and not forgetting the Waterfront for food and shopping in an historical harbour setting.
Travel via the magnificent Chapman's Peak Drive to Cape Point and stand at the bottom of Africa (the most south western point of the continent). On your return to the city be entertained by the penguins at Boulders beach. We recommend that you get there early, as there can be very long queues to get into the park in high season. There are problems with the internet connection at the entrance which causes these delays, so it's a good idea to take cash to pay your entry. Also watch out for the baboons - they are master thieves!

A trip to Cape Town is not complete without a trip to the top of Table Mountain. Beautiful views of the City, Table Bay and the Twelve Apostles running alongside Camps Bay. Tickets need to be booked online, and it's a good idea to get there very early to avoid seriously long queues. On the Table Mountain website you can check if the cable car is open, and what the weather conditions are like.

A walk along the colourful houses of the Bo Kaap is well worthwhile to experience an important part of the city's history. For more information visit the museum there too. Pop into Atlas Spices for Cape Malay spice and Rose Café for a traditional samoosa or koeksister (if they haven't sold out of them!)

Hout Bay began life as a fishing village, and the small harbour is still the focal point. From here you can take a 45 minute boat trip to Seal Island where you'll see a profusion of seals. Take a walk along the beautiful beach and if you're brave have a swim in the chilly water.

The Constantia valley is home to several historic 18th century wine estates, with Groot Constantia being the foremost and oldest of these. Take a walk around the old farmhouse and gardens, taste some of their fine wines or enjoy a leisurely meal under the oaks. Buitenverwachting and Klein Constantia also date back to the Cape Dutch days, or for a more modern setting try Steenberg or Constantia Glen.

Shopping

This shopper's paradise also has excellent restaurants and markets that are wonderful to browse around. A mix of old and new, it's also where the Robben Island ferry docks.

Arts & Culture

The latest addition to our art scene, this museum/gallery has been created in an old grain silo and is worth seeing for the awe-inspiring architecture alone. It's conveniently located in the Waterfront.
