Because Olhão is known for being a fishing town, it is a must to visit our lovely historic fish market for some local seafood & fresh fruits. You can then stop next door to one of our cafés for a nice espresso or galão (a cup of 1/2 coffee 1/2 milk) with a fresh pastry. We recommend getting our favorite pastry, pastel de nata, which is one of Portugal's most traditional and delicious pastries, a thick, flaky, sweet, (did I mention delicious?) custard tart.

I love this mall! It has everything you need from great clothing stores to Ikea to cinema and lots of food options. It even has an outlet outside of the mall. It's even a great spot to hang outdoors.

Food Scene
We recommend one of our favorite family restaurants located in the heart and center of Olhão with views of the ocean and passersby. O Horta is known for its local fresh Portuguese seafood dishes. One of our personal favorites is the "arroz de marisco" which is seafood with rice and has delicious savory rich flavors. However, any dish you choose will be a delight.

Great tapas restaurant with a unique, fun vibe, big cultural atmosphere and occasional entertainers who play guitar and sing traditional fado. You may even encounter someone who comes out with a brewing pot telling a legendary story which makes for a good laugh.

Praça da RestauraçãoAcross the street from the Fish Market, there are several shops and restaurants along with a statue of a legendary woman named Floripes. The legend is told that she used to appear to drunk men by the ocean in a white dress and talk to them about her missing father. She would flirt and talk but things would end poorly for those men and she would vanish. There is also a statue of a little boy around the area. The story about him is that he used to stare and was a badly behaved boy who wandered around town. You can read more about them near the statues.
