The old jail in the middle of the town was rebuildt into a library named by the famous writer Alvaro de Campos- which was one of the synomyms from the famous portuguese author Fernando Pessoa.

The church next to the castelo is really nice. I even don't know how much fotografs I allready took if by night or day. Impressive!

Parks & Nature
The Forte do Rato is an old fort which saved Tavira in ancient times for pirates. After the fort you will find the inner beach from Tavira with swallow water and a long beach with fresh water for swimming. Nice if you don't want to take the ferry to the island.

Long amaning beach with several restaurants, cafes, camping place and some leisure facilities to rent. In summer time the beach is guarded by a life guard and you can rent shadow places with sun loungers.
