Bring a picnic or grab some fish and chips from Kaiaua Fisheries. Check out the birdlife at nearby Miranda. Bird activity is often highest around dusk (especially if it is high tide). If you stargaze out here there is little light pollution to get in the way.

A very large and varied park that has something for everyone: bush walks, play grounds, cycle paths, open farmland, a swimming pool (open in summer), and it joins on to Auckland Botanic Gardens.
