Historic Franklin TN

Around 30 minutes away is the Historic town of Franklin, TN. The downtown is walkable and has many local shops and eateries. Definitely worth the trip here to this town to explore.
This is a down home low key music venue that has been compared to the Bluebird Café but easy to get into. There are several rooms with instruments to pick up and play. A nice front porch and out back hang out space. The main music room has several seating options and live music that has always been impressive. Highly recommend!

The Franklin Theatre began in the summer of 1937 when the marquee first illuminated Main Street, invited Middle Tennesseans to buy a ticket – and laugh, cry and dream. Inside the theater walls, moviegoers enjoyed fresh popcorn, afternoon matinees and first kisses. They walked away with a lifetime of memories. Over the next 70 years, the world changed a lot – but the Franklin Theatre stood as a testament to a simpler way of life. The new Franklin Theatre continues the cherished tradition of showing movies, but also adds a new dimension to Main Street – live music. With a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, and undeniable charm, the Franklin Theatre is destined to be an entertainment and cultural icon for years to come.

A lovely getaway, this beautiful nature preserve has no motorized vehicles once inside the park so it is quiet and peaceful. The sounds of nature abound and the lake and mountain views are exceptional. Hikes of all ability levels are available. Our favorite. Plenty of deer, wild turkeys, ducks, birds, chipmunks, turtles, and squirrels. Parking can be limited.

There is a conveyor belt that has sushi, rice, desserts, and so much more that passes by each table. You just open the lid and grab what you like. Be sure to eat what you get or you are charged for what you leave. I like this as it prevents wasted food. You can often times find a Groupon and get a deal to visit here. Yummy!

Neighborhoods

Sylvan Park is so cool and has a great “know your neighbor” culture. People who live in Sylvan Park tend to be very involved in the community and are very supportive of their neighborhood businesses. Of course, it’s easy to support your neighborhood businesses when they rock! A few Nashville favorites in Sylvan Park are Park Cafe, Neighbors, and Star Bagel. There is also some shopping and a natural foods market. If you are an active person, Sylvan Park may interest you. With the McCabe Community Center, McCabe Golf Course, Climb Nashville, and Richland Park, there is some serious exercise potential. From Sylvan Park, you can easily walk to West End, but would have to drive to the other areas in Nashville. Sylvan Park is wonderful for families of all types or single people wanting to be in a more residential area. http://nashvilleguru.com/neighborhoods/sylvan-park/about

Located near Downtown Nashville, Midtown and Sylvan Park, West End is centrally located. The location makes it easy to get to other areas in no time. West End has several condo, apartment and housing options. With its proximity Vanderbilt University, hospitals and big corporate buildings, West End has several hotels and is a popular place for people to stay while visiting Nashville. This area has more chain restaurants than other areas in Nashville, but you can sift through and find the great, local places to support as well. http://nashvilleguru.com/neighborhoods/west-end

These are the iconic things to see while in Nashville. Lots of history and music to explore.
The Parthenon stands proudly as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, Nashville's premier urban park. The re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena is the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece. The building and the Athena statue are both full-scale replicas of the Athenian originals. Originally built for Tennessee's 1897 Centennial Exposition, this replica of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece serves as a monument to what is considered the pinnacle of classical architecture. The Parthenon also serves as Nashville's art museum.
