Food Scene

The Schweizerhaus ("Swiss house") is a Viennese restaurant, rich in tradition, that is inseparably linked with the Prater, a large public area and park in Vienna, Austria's capital. The restaurant has a huge beer garden which is subdivided into smaller areas, each of which is named accordingly to a town district of Vienna, with the bar being an exception. Besides the classic Viennese culinary specialties, such as goulash and Wiener Schnitzel, the trademark dish of the restaurant is Schweinsstelzen (pig's feet). Another specialty is Budweiser Budvar beer, a popular beer brand from the Czech Republic, served fresh from the tap. The Schweizerhaus is open from March 15 until October 31.

Nordpol is a lovely restaurant that serves Austrian cuisine along the wall of Augarten. In summer, you can sit outside in their small but cozy guest garden. The food is really amazing. The schweinsbraten is incredible! They produce their own special secret sauce - scrumptious! The service is good, the servers are friendly and attentive. The location is great and the prices are reasonable. All in all, a great place.

The Donauinsel (Danube Island) is a long, narrow island in central Vienna, Austria, lying between the Danube river and the parallel excavated channel Neue Donau ("New Danube"). To most visitors, the island is known as a recreational area with bars, restaurants and nightclubs. It has sports opportunities from rollerblading, cycling and swimming to canoeing. There is one beach that, in its beginning, felt so exotic that it was soon nicknamed the "Copa Cagrana" as a humoristic allusion to Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana.
