Great place for a run if you want something a little different from the beaches. It's a former wetland and while you have to go through a residential to access it - it's nice to see the birdlife.

Only four minutes walk. This houses a fantastically inexpensive Gym and Swimming Pool as well as a complex where you can drink, see a show. Recommend the Chinese Restaurant and Bistro. Gym tops!

Lots of travellers miss Centennial Park but check out how the locals use their fabulous green spot. Picnics, running, cycling (you can hire), bbq and often events. Great spot to run and walk

This is where I go to swim. In the Middle of the Eastern Suburbs Coastal Walk it is a small bay that is safe to swim - not rough, and great amenities. No sharks here but there is great snorkelling!

This is the most glamorous beach in Australia - mega trendy surf dudes and glamatans. We recommend you perhaps go there but beware of very dangerous seas and currents. View it on the Coastal Walk

Great US Bar with US snacks. The owners worked in NY and have created a fun neighbourhood bar based on their US working experience. It's a lot of fun. Also go to Hartzyard for the best fried chicken in town.

Hundreds of inexpensive restaurants that feed the University - lots of Asian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and all affordable and fun. Just go into a busy one. It'll be fine.

A great Neighbourhood area. Try Bat Country (great Bar), El Bulli for Tapas and any of the Thai Restaurants here seem to do a good meal. There's a wonderful retro movie theatre too that has cheap nights out. p
