Superbly inventive food - 6 course tasting menu is amazing - paring wines are very good also - this is a dining experience not to be missed if you like your food.

Best deli in York (in my opinion!) - if you want hams, cheeses etc for picnic's - you will love this place. Good cafe attached also if you can get in......

Tasty cross between Chinese and Indian - it's part of a smallish chain but this feels quite authentic. The portions look small but they are quite filling. The staff are lovely.

Fantastic selection of ales. Great atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. The shop is well stocked and has something for everyone. Whatever your tipple they'll have something for you here - food's ok too!

Great local art gallery recently reopened after an £8m redevelopment. Worth visiting if you want a couple of hours of culture in a wonderful serene setting. Good restaurant attached. You do have to pay entrance fee (£7.50 I believe but worth it)

Exhibition SquareGreat local art gallery recently reopened after an £8m redevelopment. Worth visiting if you want a couple of hours of culture in a wonderful serene setting. Good restaurant attached. You do have to pay entrance fee (£7.50 I believe but worth it)
It's got a fantastic collection of local artefacts - there is a recreated Victorian street with brilliant attention to detail even down to the sounds of the time. The prison where they held Dick Turpin is also gruesomely good.....

Beautiful National Trust Property - about 6 miles outside of York. Wonderful Gardens and amazing cafe and farm shop.
