Women's consignment shop--a wide range from artsy to practical, and sometimes odd (comes with the territory, right?). Pricier than a thrift shop, but stuff's in good condition.

One of the most popular local hikes. From the parking area, you can cross the stream to head up a fire road to a swimming hole. Trail to the right is flatter and may require some stream crossing.

The Rivanna Trail runs through and around the city and can be picked up at many points--two within jogging distance of the studio (just ask if you want directions).

Ivy Creek is just a mile from the studio and contains several trail "loops" with different terrains. A few loops run alongside sections of a local reservoir for pretty woods and water scenery.

If you want to know what C'ville offers creative kids, this is one place to learn about. You can't just stroll in, but I mention it if you want to do some internet research.

Jefferson's academical village; get a map so you don't miss those little 18th c. gardens lining the Lawn. Also, the music department has lots of shows, many free, during the school year.

Staunton is an adorable little town about 40 minutes away. Small town Americana (neat, old houses and neighborhoods) with lots of artisan culture and boutiques mixed in.

The views from Jefferson's "little mountain" are beautiful; I haven't paid to see the inside of the house EVER but have enjoyed walking on the grounds often, and once worked on the garden crew.
