Portland has LOTS of amazing places to eat/drink. I can't keep up on all the new places, but here's a list of favorite/classic Portland places you'll want to experience.
People flock here from across the city, beware that there is often a long wait. They have delicious tapas and beautiful scene.

Great "office" for grabbing coffee and working...they even have a printer. Nice menu with breakfast and lunch options too. Friendly hipster vibe.

The best salsa/guac EVER. Expect a line. Not super kid friendly, but depends on your kids. Great drinks.

This is a family favorite for breakfast. The eggs Benedict are amazing, with fresh fruit bowl. Good waffles at a reasonable size/prize for kids or for a couple to share.

Fantastic small urban brewery with roll up garage door and outdoor seating in summer. The menu is delicious...includes "bacon for the table" for non-vegan visitors. You won't feel guilty for splurging, because amazingly, they give 100% of net proceeds to local charities!

This is admittedly how I get my kids to go hiking... Fresh interesting flavors, without being too strange. Hood Strawberry is a treat.

Nicholas is definitely Portland's best Lebanese restaurants (and we have several great ones). It's the ultimate exotic comfort food.

My very favorite place for drinks, late eats (popcorn and dessert are super yummy), and a great atmosphere. You feel like an adult here without feeling old. ;-) Beautiful ballroom too...

Sadly as busy parents we've only been to see a show once, but it's a great venue. I sat in the balcony (7 months pregnant) and the view was great. Good sound, happening, but intimate.

Good for a drink while you wait for a table at SS. Awesome queso dip! Haven't tried the sandwiches, but they look good.

Exceptionally "livable." Grant Park feels like a quintessential Portland neighborhood. Quiet, affluent without being hoity-toity, neighborly. Life seems to revolve around the park and newly renovated high school. Nearby everything NE Portland has to offer, easy access to SE and downtown.

If you're in town on the Last Thursday, you definitely need to check out the creative scene for people watching alone.
