For a traditional hungarian meal, like mummy's cooking at home, with quality ingredients. You might need reservation, because it is almost always full.
On the other hand it's worth it's reputation :-)

It is bright and open, the staff is helpful and the food is fantastic. If the weather allows it has a wonderful place to sit outside on the peedestrian street 'Pilvax koz'. Good selection of drinks, both local (and English). Staff always friendly and all speak English along with Hungarian.

The restaurant is located on Vigadó Square, looking on river Danube. This wonderful walking path along the Danube on the Pest side has always been a favourite meeting place for people and there has always been a coffe-house or a restaurant here ever since the 1870’s.
From early spring till late autumn you will find one of the most wonderful, panoramic terraces of Budapest. In the evenings there is also live music.

This hill has nice green areas all around and a fortess on the top with a beautiful view over the city. Don't forget to check it at night. :-)

When You have so much time in Budapest to check all the nice parks as well, check on this one too. It is a well designed park with also some places to eat and a beach for kids...

In the park called 'Varosliget' (starting behind Heroes square) is the Zoo, the Circus and famous 'Széchenyi' bath with thermal water. You will find more playgrounds, ponds and beautiful architecture in the park too.
It is near Heroes square where there are 2 galleries for art (one for classical paintings and sculptures and one for contemporary exhibitions). All of these were built in 1896 for the world exhibition in Budapest. And there has been some wonderful renovations recently in the park. Also with some ongoing new projects (new Music hall, new museums...)
There is a huge new creative playground that can be fun with kids.
