Ask most D.C. locals, and they won't even know this exists. Operating as a shipping canal from 1831 until 1924, this is a great place to escape from the crowds for a nice, picturesque walk.

Built in 1765, this building is the last Pre-Revolutionary War Colonial building on its original foundation in DC. The park is easy to miss walking down M St, and gorgeous in the spring and summer.
