We enjoy mountain biking at Honingklip farm, on the way to Bot River via the R43. Afterwards we often have a refreshing craft beer and bite to eat.

Stanford is always a good place to visit - it's a quaint village on the other side of Hermanus. Plenty of eating and wine tasting opportunities but this one of our favourites. Great fun for kids too.

Forage at Wildekrans serves great food with ingredients sources locally. There is mountain biking at the estate to stimulate your appetite while the family tastes wine or relaxes. Buy some wine with your meal, and a case or two to take home with you.

Leo Romer's 'chef's table' kind of dining with fantastical garnishings in a friendly, homely 'chalet' next to the Bot River Estuary. Chaîne des Rôtisseur chef Leo and his wife Marianne host visitors from abroad, the big city and, of course, Fisherhaven, in this unassuming but worth-a-visit venue. Booking essential.

Bella is owned and managed by Fisherhaveners and offers the most tasty toppings on thin-based pizzas. They also offer a half-and-half where you can choose two toppings and have them on each half of your pizza.

Pizzas and pub food at the Shed in Bot River - recommended. Family friendly and quirky. Possibility of a steam train coming through once a month from Somerset West to Caledon.

One of our favorite venues - in summer, it's pleasant to sit outside on the vine-covered verandah, and in winter there is a toasty fire warming the interior. Chef Warwick Taylor has developed an offering where locally sourced ingredients are melded into delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Breads are made on site - so always worth finding out if there is a loaf to take home too.
