Steaks are terrific...we like ours Pittburgh-style (charred on the outside) and medium-rare. Beer and wine are served and there is live music upstairs on Thursday evenings. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

You CAN get great seafood in the mountains of western NC, and this place proves it! We love the seafood chowder; fish entrees are varied and plentiful. Beer and wine plus a full bar.

This is our favorite Mast store, located in a former dry goods store with creaking wooden floors and original display cases. The old-time candy store downstairs is great fun for kids and adults alike, and they offer great mountain shoes and clothing.

The elk which were reintroduced several years ago congregate here nearly every afternoon and this is a great spot from which to view them.
